We held an incredibly enlightening Education, Arts & Culture Committee meeting this morning discussing new innovations in infrastructure and architecture introduced by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with a focus on climate change and socio-economic inequity. Facilitated by Linda Chiarelli, we had an open discussion on the future of capital projects for museums and other educational and cultural institutions. The Building Congress would like to thank our Co-Chairs Gus Maimis, LEED AP Jennifer Rice Stone and Linda Chiarelli, our esteemed guest speaker Jhaelen Hernandez-Eli, as well as everyone else who participated in this fruitful conversation!

We’re in our nation’s capital today advocating for our industry with Federal elected leaders. We’re pushing for expedited infrastructure funding, workforce development, & more, & hearing from our Congressional delegation how NYBC & its members can help move these issues forward.

“Auguri” (Congrats) to our President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura, Esq. who was honored with the Special Achievement in Real Estate & Development Award by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) tonight! He brought the crowd to its feet with a rousing speech calling the audience to action: “Let’s bring it home together. Let’s be united. We still have a lot of work to do. We are a cool people!Be cool, be fun, eat as much pasta as you want. But rally!”

It was an honor for us to be included last night in the American Society of Highway Engineers/New York Metro forum on "Connecting Communities, Addressing Climate Change & the Future of Freight." Our President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura, Esq. joined a panel along with Eric Macfarlane, Paul Schwartz & Jennifer Sun & moderated by Dewberry's John Boulé. NYC Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi gave an informative keynote. Thanks for having us!
