Steve is very responsive. The job he is working on for me had unexpected issues that needed a different trade, he was quick to find someone to work with so the job wouldn't be held up, which was very important since it involved a shower in an apartment that only has one.

Hired Steve back in February 2019 to build 2 closets in the basement. He built the wall of one closet partially covering an existing outlet. I asked him to make the wall shorter or move the outlet 3 times. His response was to carve out a piece of the sheetrock exposing the wood stud because the surge protector plug would not fit into the outlet. Besides this Steve was extremely rude to me. He told me not to speak to him in a very nasty way. It cost me extra money to fix his mistake! Never again!
Let me clear up a few untruths you stated Steve trying to clean your record up:
1) We did not agree on your 'making covered outlet work' as stated in your rude text message to me'. Covering that outlet OUTSIDE the closet was a violation waiting to happen and needed to be fixed . You said the closet would stop a foot away from that outlet but you built it longer.
2) You were asked to place garbage AFTER job was complete or at END OF DAY when work was done. You made the bags so heavy that I could not carry to the street and I had to rebag them. I asked you to put the bags on the side of the house not in front...2 times..once for you, once for your helper!
3) You were asked if you wanted coffee or water 2 times in a day! You complained how other homeowners did not even offer you a drink of water after working in their homes all day. Why are you not complaining that I asked you what you and helper wanted for lunch and I paid for it for 3 days?
4) You told me NOT to come down into my own basement in my house!
5) Speaking nicely to your wife when you gave me estimate DID NOT translate into your being nice to me. Sad to say you were down right nasty especially before the last day!
6) Rerouting baseboard was only discussed as to whether it was okay to build a closet around it ! There was nowhere else to move the baseboard which mean the closet could not be built.
7) As for the outlet in another closet, you built it straight across to the wall when I asked you to build it so that the outlet would be exposed. After giving me a price you told me it would cost extra to build it shorter.
8) Last day of the job, who would blame me for not wanting to speak to you when you REFUSED to fix the closet on top of the outlet, when you were disrespectful in your attitude and tone of voice!
9) 8 months later review statement.... trouble walking/doing stairs due to medical procedures and finally surgery to ankle...finally the outlet is fixed but it took hours to unlodge from behind the wooden stud/ sheetrock and it cost me extra money! Thank you , Steve!!!!
10) Tops of closet where they meet the ceiling were finished showing spaces to the joists. Your closets were not amazing. Do not text me again because you do not like my answer to your reply!
11) You mean you had to add an additional clause to your Additional Terms because of my behavior? Don't disparage my character....See photo ....Hold Your Questions.....opportunity to ask about covered outlet at end of project AFTER the damage was doneHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Josephine, I’m sorry that you were not totally satisfied with my services and waited 8 months to express that. Please note however that you are the first person in 3 years and out of 48 total Yelp reviews (8 recommended, 40 unrecommended) that was not completely satisfied. I did an amazing job for you especially considering the closets you are referring to were built as “temporary” closets so you can store your belongings while you do other work in your home. They were not built with the intention of making them permanent fixtures in your home otherwise we would have had to re-route the heating baseboards and electrical outlets that ended up inside the closets, which of course would cost a lot more and require to bring in a licensed plumber and electrician.
The job was to build temporary closets with drywall only on the face and no drywall inside. Yes, one of the closets happened to end right near an outlet and we agreed that I would make it USABLE for you and I did. I purchased a surge protector and carved a small piece of drywall out and plugged it in safely. If and when you remove the temporary storage closets the original outlets and baseboard heating would remain the same. Unfortunately I don’t have the option of including photos with my reply.
In regards to my attitude let me be clear of what happened. I’m always a nice and respectful young man and that’s actually why Josephine hired me. During the estimate I answered the phone when my wife called and Josephine noted I was very respectful to my wife and that made her feel confident hiring me. However, once I started working and running up and down the stairs to the basement Josephine kept interrupting me to offer me water & coffee (which was nice), to tell me not to leave the storm door open, not to let the door slam, to be careful not to break the tiles on her porch, to put the trash here, to put the trash there, and on and on. After a couple days I couldn’t handle the interruptions anymore and I was getting frustrated. I politely asked Josephine, with all due respect, tomorrow is the last day and in order for me to get it done on time please stop interrupting me, even if it’s good intention like offering me coffee and water. I didn’t mention anything else as I tried to keep it positive. She got offended nonetheless and didn’t speak with me at all the next day.
Imagine how many times I must have been interrupted for me to finally feel like I have to ask this client to stop interrupting me... After this experience I added a clause to my contract that clients will give me the space needed to get the work done and limit interruptions. Most people think it’s unusual that I ask them to sign off on that because it seems so obvious but it sets the proper tone.
Thanks for your feedback Josephine although I don’t believe I have truly earned a 1-star as there are real horror stories out there but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Take care. Steven P., Owner - Paul S.Staten Island, NY08May 26, 2022
I highly recommend Steve. He just finished removing wallpaper and repainting my walls and all my interior doors and frames. His team did a magnificent job; very professional, always on time, nice people and they clean up after themselves every day before they leave. The work is very high quality. I will definitely hire Steve/Ritz Renovation again in the future, when I have another project in the house.

We hired Steve to paint the interior of our home. We found him to be very professional, knowledgeable, polite, reliable, honest, and "extremely dependable." His workers were very punctual when they came for a days work, skilled, and professional.

Can't say enough good things about my experience. Steve is very easy to work with. He's very detail orientated. His staff was very nice and trustworthy. We will be using his services again in the future. He converted our second bedroom with adding crown molding and chair rail to prepare it for a nursery. He also installed a ceiling fan for us

Ritz Renovations. Inc. is an awesome contractor. Steve and his crew were easy to work with, respectful of our home and did a phenomenal job. From the first meeting with Steve I knew going with his company was the best way to go. His knowledge and expertise were second to none. They arrived promptly every morning, cleaned up daily and met with us every evening to discuss what was done and the plan for the next day. He has no problem giving his advice when asked. We had wood floors installed throughout our second floor and had all bedrooms, kitchen and garage door painted as well as a new sink and dishwasher installed. He deserves more than 5 !!!

Ritz Renovations is incredible. Steve and his crew were incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and so skillful. They completely gutted and redid the main bathroom in our house. Steve explained everything while giving an estimate, and took the time to address any questions and to go over the process with us as he went. He was very organized and clearly keeps up to date on improvements in his field. I would hire Ritz again for any home renovations. I am so, so happy with the process and the outcome. They go above and beyond to ensure they are doing the best job and we are thrilled with our new, beautiful bathroom!

I found Steve through a neighbor of mine who he did various home renovation projects for. The process of getting an estimate for the complete renovation of a small full bathroom and a small powder room was very easy. Steve was extremely upfront with everything, including costs and length of time it would take to complete the renovation. He recommended I renovate both bathrooms at the same time in order to save on time and materials. During the time of the renovations, I had an already planned vacation so I trusted Steve to work during this time as well. He provided me with updates on the progress and sent pictures. When the work was completed, I was thoroughly satisfied with his fine work and I highly recommend him for any work you may need done on your home. He works hard at his craft and is honest with everything related to the work. I look forward to working with Steve again in the future.

My husband found Steve through his yelp reviews and he decided to contact him. We couldn't be more pleased since the moment we contacted him. He was able to make an appointment within the next two days. I needed a few things to be fixed including light fixtures and electricity. He was very prompt with the time he came and worked quickly and efficiently. He got 4 things done within 20 minutes and asking for more things to be done since I only had an hour of his service. Steve is very personable, easygoing and knowledgeable of his craft. And because of the first visit, my husband hired him yet again a few days later to hide the tv wires behind the wall and it came out amazing. He is very flexible with time and very reasonable with his price. I will be hiring Steve for the next project that I do.
